Christy began her career as an Office Assistant in Resource Management at the Northern Region Headquarters (CNR) of CAL FIRE in 1993.  She served in various assignments with CNR Headquarters for over 13 years, allowing her the opportunity to learn several program areas.  In 2007, she transferred from her position as the Administrative Officer II over Finance and Business Services to the Manager of Certification and Registration in the State Fire Training Division of the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM).  In addition to serving in State Fire Training, Christy managed the Support Services Division of the OSFM.  In 2013, she accepted a promotion to oversee the Occupational Health and Wellness Program where she led the development and implementation of the online Employee Medical Questionnaire and establishment of the Department’s first Wellness Program.  Christy went on to manage the Curriculum Development and Administrative Support programs at the CAL FIRE Training Center in Ione.  In July 2020, she promoted to the Assistant Deputy Director of Fiscal Services where she oversees the Departmental Accounting Office and Business Services Office.

Christy has served on a variety of working groups and committees throughout her career.  She is currently the Vice Chair of the Department Leadership Team (DLT), the DLT sponsor of the Policies and Procedures Committee, and she’s been honored to participate on the DLT 2024 Strategic Plan Working Group.  She’s also an active member of the Incident Finance Committee, the Overhead Working Group, and she serves as CAL FIRE’s Purchasing Authority Contact (PAC) for non-IT goods and services with the Department of General Services.  Christy served as the cadre co-lead for CAL FIRE’s Leadership Level 2 and was privileged to work with some of the Department’s inspiring leaders.  Christy believes in leading people with compassion, meeting them where they are, and working together with staff to develop CAL FIRE’s next generation.

Christy’s nearly thirty years with CAL FIRE as well as her extensive administrative and management background will be an asset as she moves into the role of Deputy Director of Fiscal Services and joins the Department’s Executive Team.
