David Geisen
Deputy Director, Fiscal Services
David began his career with CAL FIRE in 2002 as a Fire Fighter 1 in the Shasta-Trinity Unit. In 2008, he transitioned to the Departmental Budget Office (DBO) as a Staff Services Analyst and was later promoted to Associate Budget Analyst. After several years in DBO, David transferred to the Administrative Office at Sacramento Headquarters, where he was promoted to Staff Services Manager I and then to Staff Services Manager II, providing critical administrative support to multiple headquarters programs. In 2017, David joined the Business Services Office (BSO) as Acquisitions Manager, leading the Department's procurement and contracting functions. He served as Acting Chief of BSO in early 2018 before being promoted to Staff Services Manager III as Chief of BSO. Following a departmental reorganization, he became the Branch Chief of Contracts, Grants, and Issuance.
Most recently, on August 2, 2023, David was promoted to Assistant Deputy Director of Fiscal Services, where he oversaw both branches of the BSO and the Departmental Accounting Office. He also served as Chair of the Policy and Procedure Committee for two years and remains an active member of the Strategic Plan Action Committee. David holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento.
