Current Situation
Situation Summary
Current Situation:
The McFarland Fire is currently mapped at 122,653 acres and is 93% contained.
Overnight, crews worked primarily in Beegum Gorge and along Highway 36 mopping up and extinguishing any hot spots near containment lines and patrolled the rest of the fire.
Today, the priorities will continue to be in Beegum Gorge in the north and near the wilderness area in the south. Mop up will continue down Noble Ridge and along Highway 36. Near the wilderness area crews will continue to mop up and ensure the line stays secure. The rest of the fire perimeter will continue to be patrolled today to ensure there are no hot spots that would threaten the line.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 5 AM today through 11 AM Saturday. Hot and dry north and northeast winds may gust to around 25-30 mph today with relative humidity falling to near 10%. Temperatures will be warmer today with maximum temperature reaching 91-94 degrees.

Road Closures
Hwy 36 is closed from Harrison Gulch to Vestal Road. For current road information visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov
The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and the Unified Command Team for the McFarland Fire have removed the evacuation warning in Tehama Zone 158, described as all areas north of Vestal Road from the South Fork of Cottonwood Creek west to Weemasoul Road and North to Hwy 36. The evacuation warning in zone 157 will remain. Zone 157 is described as all areas north of Hwy 36 to the Shasta County line from Vassar Road/ Luce Griswald Road/Bowman Road and west to Beegum Road.
All evacuation orders for the zones within the fire footprint will remain at this time. These zones are described as all areas west of Vestal Road and Weemasoul Road to the county line, north to Highway 36, south to Pettyjohn Road and into the north edge of the Yolla Bolly Middle Eel Wilderness area. These zones are listed as C1, C2, C3, D1, D2, D3, 161, 159, 160, 162, E1, E2, E3, and E4 on the digital map.

Shasta County Evacuations
All evacuation orders issued by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office have been reduced to evacuation WARNINGS and citizens can return to their homes. Forest Closure in Effect
The USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region has announced a temporary closure of nine National Forests for public and firefighter safety. This includes the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
