Current Situation
Situation Summary
Current Situation:
The fire is fuel driven as a result of extended and extreme drought conditions with influence of steep slopes and winds. Northeast winds brought active fire behavior and lower relative humidity. Consistent fire spread was observed in all fuel types, but accelerated in lighter fuels with a southwest exposure. Smoke from nearby fires continued to influence fire behavior.
Firefighters continue to minimize impacts to residents, critical infrastructure, commercial timberland and surrounding communities. Ground resources continue to construct strategic primary and secondary contingency fire lines while improving and reinforcing direct fire line.
Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has increased law enforcement presence throughout the fire area. Additional personnel from neighboring departments are assisting with evacuations and property protection.
CAL FIRE damage inspection teams will continue to make assessments in affected areas.
Community Meetings:
A virtual community meeting will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 21st, 2021. Meetings will be live streamed on the Shasta Trinity National Forest, ShastaTrinity Unit and CAL FIRE IMT 5’s YouTube Channel. All links are listed above or use the OR code to the left.
