The areas along SR 299, West of Oregon Summit to Cemetery Road. Dutch Creek Road, Evans Bar and Solider Creek will remain closed. The road closure will be on Dutch Creek Road, south of the intersection of Dutch Creek Road and Red Hill Road. There will be a road closure at SR 299 at Sky Ranch Road. Residents and Emergency personnel only will be allowed access to the
above listed open areas. East Fork/ Helena Road will remain closed.
ROAD CLOSURES: Dutch Creek Road at Red Hill Road. Highway 299 at Sky Ranch Road. Both road closures are
open to residents and emergency responders only.
NOTES:
Be aware the Shasta Trinity National Forest has closed all areas within its boundary, including National Forest Roads to Public use. The public needs to be aware there is still fire activity in these listed areas. Fire apparatus and crews will be observed in the area for several days or weeks. Fire activity can change rapidly and the public
needs to be vigilant and be ready to move in case the situation in the area changes.
Once a wildfire has burned through an area, many dangers may remain. There may still be smoke in the respective areas as
firefighters continue their suppression operations. When driving to your property check for hazards. At your property check
for fire or fire damage. If your services are off, check for burned service equipment and facilities. When you have secured
safety outside of your home, check inside for fire or damage.
Current Situation:
Firefighters are strengthening the fire line with low intensity and favorable conditions along the Dutch Creek drainage; most areas are secured down to the
road and tactical patrol continues near Junction City. From the Dutch Creek drainage to Maxwell Creek, crews are expanding the depth of the containment line. Indirect line construction and improvement from Maxwell Creek to the west will continue today utilizing Sierra Pacific Industry’s road system. West of Hayfork, heavy equipment and crews are building fire line that will connect the North and South Zone of the Monument Fire.
Overnight, thick smoke remained over the fire and settled back into valleys and the river corridor with nightly diurnal winds. Fire activity was greater in thermal belts
but mainly backed and flanked through surface fuels. In steeper terrain, roll out made small uphill runs with single and group tree torching.
Northern California has experienced large fire activity and will likely experience an extended fire season. Fires burning in northern California are exhibiting extreme
fire growth based on critical fuel conditions. The prioritization of resources is always based on life, property, and natural resources. Under these drought conditions, wildfires are burning rapidly with extreme severity and have traveled up to 8 miles in a single day. Fire spread is fuel driven and does not depend on windtive nighttime burning. We coordinate very closely with the US Forest Service and CalOES for our local and out of state partners, to ensure resources are shared.
**A new Fire Information line has been established for the South Zone of the Monument Fire. Please call (949) 433-2638.**
