Current Situation
Situation Summary
The Rabbit Fire had minimal activity throughout the nighttime operational period, with smoldering in heavy fuels. Fire crews built containment lines and patrolled for hot spots and will continue through the day. Extreme heat and low humidity are forecasted for the next operational period. High temperatures, steep terrain and difficult access continue to hamper fire suppression efforts. Hazards remain present for critical infrastructure, radio repeater towers and natural gas and petroleum pipelines.
Road Closures
ROADS RE-OPENED: SOUTHBOUND Highway 79 from Gilman Springs to Beaumont Ave. will reopen as of 4:00AM 07/18/23.
ROADS REMAINING CLOSED: County Landfill Road, Jack Rabbit Trail, Bridge Street and California Ave. between East 1st Street and Highway 79 will remain closed.
All other roadways are open.
