Current Situation

Situation Summary

The Bonny Fire displayed moderate fire activity overnight and continues to burn in extremely rugged and steep terrain. Today, the escalating temperatures pose additional challenges for firefighting efforts. Moreover, there is a chance of thunderstorms developing in the afternoon, heightening the risk of erratic fire behavior.

Firefighters will continue constructing containment lines around the perimeter. Simultaneously, they are providing structure defense measures to safeguard the residents of Terwilliger Valley from the approaching fire.

  • Chihuahua Valley Road between Old Mitchell Camp Road and Highway 79

Evacuation Orders have been issued for residents of the Terwilliger Valley Community. The evacuation area includes:

  • North of the San Diego County Border
  • West of Anza Borrego State Park
  • South of Bowers, Bailey, and Ramsey
  • East of Bonny
