Situation Summary
As of 10/25/22 at 7:00 AM, Northwest Team 12 has taken command of the Shoe Fire.
UPDATE 11/5/24:
This morning at 0600, Type 3 team from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest lead by Robert Holt, IC and Ryan Regelin, ICT assumed command of the Shoe Fire.
Suppression Repair done by crews and heavy equipment are being coordinated with our Resource Advisors (READ’s) to ensure that the area is repaired or brought back to a natural state where fire line was built by heavy equipment and firefighters to contain the fire.
The perimeter of the Shoe fire is in patrol and monitor status, smoldering has been isolated to the interior of the fire and there is no threat of the fire escaping. The contingency line up Curl Ridge on the eastside of the fire is complete. Work continues on the westside contingency line as conditions dry out. Where safe to do so firefighters and heavy equipment are working to complete contingency line at East Fork up to Garden Ridge. Two road graders are road grading along Fenders Ferry Road.
WEATHER: High pressure will strengthen on today. This will result in increasing high level clouds across the west both days. Otherwise, expect warmer and drier conditions over the fire area with daytime temperatures in the lower to mid-60s. Winds will be northeast and gusty, gusting to 20-30 mph on the ridges.
A temporary Forest closure is in effect: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/stnf/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5392380
This will be the final update from Northwest Team 12. We would like to thank the local communities for their support and hospitality in hosting our firefighters.
