Current Situation
Situation Summary
As of 10/25/22 at 7:00 AM, Northwest Team 12 has taken command of the Shoe Fire.
Fire managers from incoming NW Team 12 gathered intel on fire activity yesterday including taking a reconnaissance flight observing minimal smoke across the fire area. Aggressive fire suppression efforts by firefighters have kept the fire within its current footprint for the past several days. Firefighters continue to successfully hold and secure primary containment lines despite warm and dry conditions that have tested containment lines. Fire resources remain vigilant as the warming and drying trend lingers over the fire area for the next few days. In conjunction with thermal sensing infrared capable UAS, crews are actively patrolling for heat to mop-up and fully extinguish hot spots. Fire crews are removing hose lines where they are no longer needed, and Resource Advisors are assessing fire suppression repair needs. Heavy equipment is engaged in chipping, masticating, and constructing water bars along contingency lines. More heavy equipment is arriving to assist with mitigating impacts to natural resources from firefighting activities as areas of the fire transition into fire suppression repair. Planned prescribed burns by Cal Fire in the vicinity of Oak Run may contribute additional smoke into the area.
