Situation Summary

As of 10/25/22 at 7:00 AM, Northwest Team 12 has taken command of the Shoe Fire.

UPDATE 11/4/24:

Conditions are beginning to dry out across the fire area, although some areas were still too slick and soggy to safely carry out work with heavy equipment yesterday. An excavator was able to get in and finish repair work on some containment lines along the north side of the fire. In areas too wet for heavy equipment to operate safely, firefighters completed some hand repairs. Heavy equipment operators are also making headway with repairs near Red Bridge. Two road graders are continuing with road grading along Fenders Ferry Road, and four excavators are making progress with repairs along Curl Ridge. As conditions warm up and dry out, firefighters are patrolling and monitoring around the fire in areas where repairs are complete. However, smoldering has been isolated to interior portions of the fire area and there is no threat of the fire escaping.

A local Type 3 Incident Management Team from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest will shadow Northwest Team 12 today as they prepare to take command of the incident Tuesday morning.

A temporary Forest closure is in effect: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/stnf/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5392380

This will be the final update from Northwest Team 12. We would like to thank the local communities for their support and hospitality in hosting our firefighters.
