Current Situation

Situation Summary

Fire is burning in an area with no recent fire history. Mature, dense timber mixed with brush characterizes the fire area. Critically dry fuels for this time of year are contributing to fire spread.

Moderate Fire Behavior with flanking and backing. Some precipitation from thunderstorms and higher humidities slowed fire growth but did not put the fire out. Heat and fire activity was observed on all divisions, but it was substantially reduced from previous days, with no large runs. Multiple lightninging strikes posed the risk of new starts, with at least one new start in the general area.

Red Flag Warning in effect from 11:00am Thursday to 5:00pm Saturday. The passage of an inside slider type upper-level trough will bring strong and very dry N-NW to NE offshore winds to the fire area Thursday through Saturday. Spotty light rain beginning around 3:00pm and continuing into the morning brought minimal precipitation amounts of a few hundredths of an inch to the fire area and kept temps cool & RHs high through the day. Max temp of 64 degrees F and Min RH of 62% as of 5:30pm around 2500 ft with peak gusts of 13-17 mph along ridges at nearby stations.

A band of showers and thunderstorms crossed the fire area in the early afternoon with additional rainfall amounts averaging around 0.10 but with significant variability and some areas receiving brief locally heavy down pours and some areas getting less.
