Current Situation
Situation Summary
At 1:11 p.m. CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to reports of a vegetation fire at Gilman Springs Road X Alessandro Boulevard, east of Moreno Valley. The first arriving chief officer reported ten acres of light vegetation, burning at a moderate rate. The fire is currently 77 acres, burning in an area that is difficult for ground units to access. Additional aircraft have been requested. No injuries or evacuations reported.
4:06 p.m. [UPDATE] The fire is approximately 250 acres. Firefighting aircraft continue to fight the fire from the air while firefighters make access through the difficult terrain on the ground.
7:00 p.m. [UPDATE] The fire has been mapped at 867 acres and is 20% contained. Firefighters will remain on scene overnight and the next update will be tomorrow morning, after 8:00 a.m. unless fire conditions deteriorate.
