Situation Summary

Firefighters responded to a fast-moving fire in the hottest part of the day on Thursday. The Railbridge Fire started just south of the Apache Fire footprint and developed very quickly. The first engine at scene requested an augmentation of resources, and air and ground equipment arrived quickly. The fire burned to the north and eventually ran into the Apache Fire scar, which helped with containment. While aircraft slowed the spread with water and retardant drops, engines, hand crews, and dozers worked to build containment lines and lay hose around the entire fire perimeter. The Butte County Sheriff's Office issued several evacuation orders and warnings, and some engines were assigned to structure protection. The forward spread of the fire was stopped at 6:30 and all evacuations have been lifted. One firefighter was transported to Oroville Medical Center for evaluation of a minor injury. Mop up will continue throughout the night and a day shift will be assigned to the fire tomorrow.
