Current Situation
Situation Summary
The Shelly Fire started on July 3 in the Marble Mountain Wilderness near Shelly Lake and the Pacific Crest Trail. Due to hot dry weather and difficult access, the fire has grown and now threatens communities, private timberlands, cultural resources and wilderness areas. The fire is in unified command between Klamath National Forest represented by California Incident Management Team 12 and CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit. The primary objectives are to protect life and property, ensure firefighter and civilian safety, and to protect resources at risk.
