Current Situation

Situation Summary

Firefighters worked overnight to cool hot spots around the fire perimeter and establish control lines on the northern portion of the fire. Today, crews will be shuttled by helicopter into remote areas to construct containment line. Temperatures remain high, though a slight cooling trend will occur in the fire area over the next several days. Damage inspections are ongoing and are at 20% completion with 19 inspections conducted. Fire suppression repair operations are now underway, utilizing specialized equipment and personnel to restore areas damaged by fire operations.

Firefighters are working along Highway 198 and throughout the fire area. Please take your time when traveling and watch for personnel on or near the roadway.
