Current Situation
Situation Summary
Firefighters will continue with repair efforts on suppression measures and are focused on setting up and reinforcing control lines. The fire has primarily been moving slowly and smoldering in certain parts of the perimeter, particularly on steep and rugged terrain. Today, clear weather is expected, and a slight cooling trend is anticipated over the next few days. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 35 mph by later tonight. Damage inspections have been finalized, with a total of 78 conducted. This weekend, weather conditions are expected to warm up slightly and remain dry.
All evacuations were lifted this morning at 6:00 AM. (9/12/2024)
While repopulation is now underway, the public must remain cautious and aware. Firefighters are working along Mineral Springs Road, Los Gatos Road and throughout the fire area. Please take your time when traveling and watch for personnel on or near the roadway.
Safety Guidance for Returning Residents:
- Stay Alert to Potential Hazards in Burn Areas: Burn scars, especially in hilly regions, are prone to erosion and flash flooding. Rainfall can lead to debris flows, so remain vigilant for changing weather conditions and stay informed through official updates.
- Avoid Damaged Structures: Buildings and properties within burn areas may be structurally unsound. Do not enter any damaged structures until they have been inspected and cleared by professionals.
- Stay Clear of Downed Trees and Power Lines: Trees weakened by the fire may fall without warning. Be cautious when traveling through wooded areas and avoid downed power lines.
- Respect Ongoing Firefighting Efforts: Fire crews may still be working in the area to extinguish hot spots and ensure complete containment. Please avoid interfering with their operations and heed any additional road closures or restricted areas.
