Incident Update Line Fire

Situation Summary

The north and east sides of the Line Fire continue to burn with the greatest intensity. Today will be mostly sunny over the fire area, and the smoke impacts are expected to grow as the day progresses. A local Red Flag Warning goes into effect in the area from 11:00am to 8:00pm. There will be gusty winds over the fire which will lead to low humidity and very dry vegetation. Firefighters are creating control lines, protecting structures and the community, making contingency plans, and maximizing the use of aircraft when conditions are not too smoky. Tuesday night, stronger winds are predicted which could lead to drops in relative humidity and greater fire spread. Towards the end of the week, cooler weather may moderate fire activity.

There are currently 65,600 structures threatened. This includes 9,200 structures under Evacuation Orders and 56,400 structures under Evacuation Warnings. A Damage Inspection Team (DINS) is working in the area.

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that the California National Guard will support the state’s ongoing response to the Line Fire in San Bernardino County.
Through its activation, authorized under the Line Fire state of emergency, the California National Guard will deploy:  

• Four UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters for water bucket dropping operations
• Two C-130 aircraft with Modular Airborne Fire Fighting Systems (MAFFS)
• Four 20-person hand crews (80 soldiers). They report to Camp Roberts today for equipment distribution and will be assigned to the Line Fire on Thursday in support of CAL FIRE.
• One military police company to support the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with traffic control points in evacuated areas.

Evacuation Orders

• From Calle Del Rio east to Hwy 38 and from Greenspot Road north to the foothills
• The area east of Orchard Road to Cloverhill Drive from Highland Ave north to the foothills
• All undeveloped land east of Hwy 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue
• Communities of Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake 
• The community of Forrest Falls 
• The community of Mountain Home Village 
• The communities of Angelus Oaks, Seven Oaks and all campgrounds and cabins in the area 
• The areas north and east of Highland Avenue and Palm Avenue 

Evacuation Warnings

• From 210 freeway east to the foothills and from Greenspot road north to the foothills
• The community of Green Valley Lake north from Highway 18 along Green Valley Lake Road 
• The communities of Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, Twin Peaks, Crestline, and Valley of Enchantment 
• The area from Garnet Street east to Bryant Street and Carter Street north to Mill Creek 
• The area of Big Bear Valley from the dam to Cactus Road

Road Closures

• Highway 18 is currently closed from Kuffel Canyon to the Big Bear Dam.
  • If you are in Running Springs, you are able to get out but you will not be allowed back in.
• Additionally, Highway 330 remains closed from Highland Avenue to Highway 18 in Running Springs. 
• Highway 18 is closed going northbound (inbound) from Kuffel Canyon to Running Springs.
  Only southbound (outbound) traffic is allowed.
• Highway 18 is closed from Running Springs to Highway 38 (Big Bear Dam).
• Highway 330 is closed from Highland Ave to Highway 18 in Running Springs.
• Garnet Street closed at SR-38 in Mentone, California.
• SR-38 Eastbound is shut down at Bryant Street.
  • An additional closure will be set up at Angelus Oaks. Residents of Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls will be evacuated down bound on SR-38 towards Mentone. Residents of Angelus Oaks will be evacuated up bound towards Big Bear.
