Situation Summary

The fire was first reported at 2:49 PM in the 4700 block of Sapphire Road within Chino Hills State Park. Early assessments estimated the fire at 1–2 acres with a slow rate of spread. Due to the potential for expansion up to 25 acres, additional air tankers were deployed. By 5:45 PM, forward progress had been stopped at five acres. Subsequent ground assessments updated the total burned area to 10 acres.
Despite challenging wind conditions, CAL FIRE and Chino Valley Fire District executed an aggressive air and ground attack to halt the fire’s spread. Two engines will remain on scene this evening to strengthen containment lines and extinguish remaining hot spots.
Smoke may remain visible in the area as crews continue mop-up operations.
