Current Situation

Situation Summary

Forward progress of the fire was stopped around 6 p.m. Wednesday. It burned 13.6 acres. Ground access to it was very difficult as it was in a remote location along the southern side of East Park Reservoir on the Lodoga side. A coordinated air attack with air tankers and one helicopter helped to keep the fire in check while the fire engines, hand crews and dozer made access.

The Boggs Mountain Helitack Crew of six firefighters and one fire captain deployed on the ground. Once at scene, they were able to cut a line all the way around the fire before the engines and hand crews were able to make access. Once all ground resources made access to the edge of the fire, they continued strengthening control lines and mopping up in the interior of the fire.

Two engines and one hand crew will be back on site Thursday working on fortifying control lines and mopping up to ensure that fire comes under control.
