Situation Summary

Fire suppression efforts will continue also be continuing throughout today on the Howe Fire, which broke out at approximately 6:20pm on Monday, June 16, 2025 - just as fire crews were getting the upper hand on the Maria Fire.

Personnel from Ventura County Fire responding to the call reported a 4-5 acre brush fire in the rugged foothills south of Guiberson Road and east of Torrey Canyon, just south of the community of Piru.

This fire triggered issuance of both an evacuation warning for a threatened residence/ranch in the area, and an evacuation order for the immediate surrounding area between Smith Canyon and Eureka Canyon.

Both evacuations were downgraded at approximately 10:30pm yesterday evening, as fire crews made good progress in slowing the progress of the fire.

At this time, a road closure remains place along a portion of E. Guiberson Road between Torrey Canyon Rd and Eureka Canyon Road as fire personnel continue to work in the area.

As of this morning, the total burned acreage remains at less than 40 acres.

Fire crews will be continuing to work towards containment of this fire throughout the day.
