Current Situation
Situation Summary
One engine will be back working the fire Tuesday as we near 100 percent containment on this fire. It will move into patrol status once that is reached.
This fire started at 2:14 p.m. Sunday in a remote area to the northwest of Indian Valley Reservoir, an area that last burned in the 2018 Ranch Fire. CAL FIRE Air Attack 110, Airtanker 91 and Boggs Copter 612 were first on scene and reported the fire was approximately 3 acres with fire on both sides of Bartlett Springs Road. They started working on perimeter control with water and fire retardant drops. Once ground crews were able to access the fire, its forward progress was stopped at 4:37 p.m. At its peak, there were 10 engines, two dozers, two hand crews, two water tenders, three air tankers, one helicopter and one air tactical aircraft assigned to the fire. Temperature readings from the Spring Valley Road weather station showed 91 degrees with light winds (2 mph) and 18 percent relative humidity at the fire's time of discovery.
Heavy mop-up operations were required on this incident, as portions of the fire were burning in heavy brush adjacent to a steep hillside.
Assigned Resources
Numerous firefighting air tankers from throughout the State are flying fire suppression missions as conditions allow.
