Current Situation
Situation Summary
Siskiyou County received 2,790 lightning strikes last night: 1,538 where within CAL FIRE’s Direct Protection Area (DPA) which resulted in 18 new fire starts. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for Siskiyou County for abundant lightning on dry fuels.
Battalion 1: Scott Valley (1 Total Fire)
- Bear Fire: 11 acres (Summary: South side of Hwy 3 near Mineral Springs, between Fort Jones and Forest Mountain. The fire is burning in heavy timber and oak woodland with difficult access in steep terrain. Resources assigned are 4 hand crews, 2 Dozers, multiple engines, 2 Water Tenders and 2 type 1 helicopters. Resources are currently working to control and contain the incident.)
