Situation Summary

Siskiyou County received 2,790 lightning strikes last night out of those 1,538 where within CAL FIRE’s DPA. A total of 18 new fires started on CAL FIRE’s Direct Protection Area:
Battalion 1 Scott Valley- 2 Total Fires
*Bear- 11 acres south side of Hwy 3 near Mineral Springs, between Fort Jones and Forest Mountain. The fire is burning in heavy timber and oak woodland with difficult access in steep terrain. Resources assigned are 4 hand crews, 2 Dozers, multiple engines, 2 Water Tenders and 2 type 1 helicopters. Resources are currently working to control and contain the incident.

* Juniper- .33 acres Contained,1 Engine, 1 Water Tender, 1 dozer assigned. Fire burned in a 300 ft long land clearing pile of junipers. Extensive mop up is required
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for Siskiyou County for abundant lightning on dry fuels
